Jukebox #43 HIA/Biosphere - Cimmerian Shaft

Jukebox LS edition: Tromso, 70 degrees north, in the Arctic region, in the middle of the most active northern lights zone. In summer time, land of the midnight sun. In winter, total darkness.

In October 1995, as part of the annual Polar Music Festival, Geir Jenssen of Biosphere and Bobby Bird of the Higher Intelligence Agency, were commissioned by Nor Concerts to collaborate together on a musical project to take place in Geir’s home town of Tromso, Norway. The brief was for them to perform three concerts, using sounds sourced from the area as the basis of the music - the machinery of the local mountain cable lift, the snow, the ice etc…

The performances from which this recording is taken, took place on top of a mountain above Tromso, in a cabin reached by the cable car, in which the audience were transported up the mountain in turn.

First release: 1996 on Beyond, limited edition 5000 pieces. Reissue: 2003 on Headphone. The Jukebox plays with kind permission of (HIA) Bobby Bird (that’s so cool!!!!) the opening track ‘Cimmerian Shaft’ which sets the tone for this album, a musthave in your ambient collection. Probably one of the best releases ever in the genre: Polar Sequences.

Die Idee dazu kam mir Anfang 2007, als ich anfing mit meinen alten analogen Synthesizern zu experimentieren. Ich verarbeitete sphärische Flächen mit sehr langsamen Drumloops und improvisierte über die Harmonien. Nach und nach kristallisierten sich immer mehr guter Ideen heraus und ich dachte, warum eigentlich nicht gleich ein ganzes Album davon produzieren”. Bad Loop is Petteri Karjaleinen, born July4th 1979 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Yes, a lot of Americans do celebrate his birthday! Moved to Finland and studied in the Music Institute of Vantaa in 1991. He started experimenting with midi and tracker software with Jari Saukkonen, with whom he produced music until his departure to South Africa in 1995. His debut ep “Lumme” was released in 2002 on UK based net label Kahvi Collective and later in 2005, having moved back to Helsinki, Finland, he released “Luo” ep on US netlabel One, and soon it gained popularity in several online magazines including Beat magazine and even Der Spiegel. Bad Loop teamed up with a fellow musician Recue in 2005, for series of live performances in Finland, Estonia and UK until 2008, and nowadays he is performing with Jari, associated with Coral Visuals, who is responsible for the custom real-time visuals. 2010 brings the EP release of ‘Fragments’ and our Jukebox plays ‘Sometimesrmx’ which we think is all about a remix version as the title shows us…

Making music since he was 15 years old, Mark de Jong studied sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and it was a couple of years later when he launched the ‘Low Energy Center’. A way of hiding from the high-energy world outside and re-load in the low-energy center. His inspiration to start making ambient music had to do with a dance party back in 1992; at his friend’s place (*TC*) he heard this album by Locust called ‘Weathered Well’. TC played the best tracks from this album during this non-stop ambient afterparty which was born early in the morning in Harmelen, near Utrecht. Mark got hooked and from that moment in time, ambient music has become a way of living for him.

The Jukebox plays the title song from his album ‘Good To See You’ and is available on the iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody and Sony Connect. The music is timeless and deserves a very close listen on a regular basis; Feel free to de-compress and re-load yourself in the Low Energy Center!

Robert Henke, born 1969, is a composer, sound designer, software developer, installation artist and performer. His music has roots in academic sound research as well as in club culture, and the result is a body of work that is sophisticated yet accessible. Robert Henke releases music under his own name and as Monolake; his performances and interactive installations have been shown at places like the Tate Modern in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MUDAM in Luxembourg, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. Robert is one of the authors of the Ableton Live music software, and teaches as professor for sound design at the University of Arts in Berlin.

Remixing Depeche Mode ‘Darkest Star’:

Robert: “I have no fixed scheme. I am looking for an idea, something unique which guides me thru what ever comes next. In the case of Darkest Star it was the lyric”.

It still sounds like a Depeche Mode track!

Robert: “Yes. And it makes me incredibly happy to hear this. It might not be the best Depeche Mode track ever, but at least it has some of the color…and as I said earlier in this interview, color is quite important to me. I think much more in colors then in song structures”

Did you ever get any feedback on the remix from the band at all?

Robert: “No. unfortunately not.”

Anjey Satori was born on April 6, 1969, in the Ukraine. Anjey was interested in mysticism and esoteric teachings of the East from his early years.

He worked as an organizer of special courses and seminars at the Institute of Nontraditional Medicine and has had enough experience to teach the basics of bioenergy and healing.

The pseudonym “satori” (insight) Anjey thought of while practicing meditation and yoga. Once the “expansion of conscious” happened and there was an experience of “satori” described in classical Zen-Buddhist texts. The feeling of inner light and bliss lasted for several days. It was the meeting with his innermost Self.

Anjey Satori’s music is intended for meditation, healing and anyone travelling an inner journey. Each composition creates a harmonious balance of music and spirit.

Both live and work near Munich. CGS studied classical guitar and spent many years working as a studio musician, producer and film composer. In addition to his work as film musician with classical film scores he has been working for over 20 years on experimental compositions and sound art.

Together with the trance singer ELA BERGMAN he is working on the new music project entitled DIA-MANTRA. Electronic music combined with highly hypnotic archaic trance chants is the salient feature of this particular music project.

From Holland comes today’s artist *TC* - It all started when he was like 7 years old and heard this tape with music by Jean-Michel Jarre: the Oxygène album. It was recorded by his neighbour and friend Robert. It just went on and on from that moment in time… TC bought himself one synthesizer-based record after another. Other music was irrelevant from his perspective… Though during his childhood he used to listen to very melodic songs as well, collected by his parents; on a regular day he would hear Neil Diamond, James Last, Barbra Streisand, some Arne Janssen during birthday parties and even this Dutch band ‘BZN’. We’re talking the livingroom now. Back in his own room, TC would play his vinyl collection and listen to the radio. During the 80’s his favorite radio show was the ‘CD Show’ hosted by Wim van Putten. But also ‘The Soul Show’ with Ferry Maat and ‘In The Mix’ by Ben Liebrand on friday nights at Veronica radio station.

His vinyl collection in those years: Peru, Jarre, Vangelis, Klaus Doldinger, Tangerine Dream. When the first CD’s were launched TC was at the ‘Capilux’ store and bought his first one: Klaus Schulze ‘Body Love’. His first electronic music CD ever…

TC studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, NL. In 1994, TC was the first Dutch conservatory student to graduate on a live dance music performance, held at the Sonic Acts Festival in Paradiso, Amsterdam. He was in a band at that time called ‘Normally Invisible’. They made one album and it was released on Staalplaat Records, Amsterdam. Genre: ambient/trance.

In his own studio TC worked on a solo project, the ‘Atlantic Treasure’ album. It wasn’t released until years later when the iTunes Store was getting popular. There’s no physical release but one never knows what the future might bring. From this album the jukebox plays ‘Impact LNB’ - inspired by the Nord Lead synth, samples from SciFi movies, the wonderful theme of ‘La Double Vie de Véronique’ (Zbigniew Preisner) and his big Persian love from Isfahan, both were born on the same day. File it under ‘what suits you’ or ‘never to be deleted’. It’s intriguing and cinematic and it even makes the artist wonder whatever happened to making music…

Jukebox #34 Off the Sky - Cold Distances

Since Jason Corder decided that becoming a weather man was farcely over-rated, he coined the ambiguously fitted moniker ‘Off the Sky’ which was in reality birthed in transit of his experimenting with converting chaos theories (especially those relating to weather systems*) into musical forms. And really its just an apropos title summating this atmospheric and acoustic communal project emanating from his studio in Kentucky ergo USA. Offthesky is truly a humble handle that reflects both Jason’s mild manered nature and his “in-the-clouds” mind-set when relating to others. His musical miasmatic manifestations are loosely inspired by chaos theory mathematics, dark foreboding jazz, and various natural substances…

The Jukebox plays “From Cold Distances to a Warm Place”. Like more of his tracks, this one can be seen as ‘glue’ between other tracks, creating the perfect sound bath, the perfect moments, the movie directed by Jason Corder a.k.a. Off the Sky.

Jukebox #33 Biosphere - Microgravity

Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 1962), a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient and electronic music. He is well known for his ‘ambient techno’ and ‘arctic ambient’ styles, his use of music loops and particular samples from sci-fi sources. His track ‘Novelty Waves’ was used for the 1995 campaign of Levi’s. His 1997 album ‘Substrata’ was voted by www.hyperreal.org as one of the all time classic ambient albums.

Biosphere regularly performs live during electronic music festivals and in clubs throughout Europe and various other locales around the world. Live performances usually consist of Jenssen performing improvisations or variations on newer tracks on a laptop while video art is projected behind him. In 2008 Jenssen announced a year-long break from touring due to his reported hatred of ‘airports, security checks, unhealthy food, air conditioning, hotels, etc.’ However he resumes concert activity in 2009….

Today’s Jukebox track is the first track we ever heard from Biosphere. We go back to 1992… it’s the timeless ‘Microgravity’ with many thanks to ‘Origo Sound’.

Solar Cycle has been making music for over 9 years now in various styles and under several aliases. It all got started during the 90’s when he experienced music production and DJ sets. After moving to London a few years ago he (name unknown) met interesting people who helped him to understand the beauty of making music on a PC (perhaps it’s time for the Mac soon?) After a few years of studying music and composing, dance and techno stuff, trance productions, the Solar Cycle project really got started. A style that he refers to as “Summer Cocktail of Chillout House, Electronica and Ambient”.

Esem is Bulgarian music artist Georgi Marinov, born in 1979, previously known as “eesn” and “stereoman” during his early demoscene days at NOiSE.   He has so far released one EP (Ikae, vinyl-only) and three full length albums: Enveloped (deFocus 2002), Serial Human (m3rck 2003), and Scateren (kahvi 2005).   Scateren was released under a Creative Commons license and is available to download for free. Portions of Scateren were licensed for a Nintendo DS game - Theta, produced by Vitei inc.   Esem is currently working on a new album, we assume, as his website shows TBA for 2010….

Jukebox #30 Gary Rich

California artist, musician and teacher Gary Rich (G.Rich) was one of the founding members of the early 1970’s “space music and chaos” band The Lunar Asylum, which is still active today in the San Francisco Bay area. He is self-taught on several instruments and studied vibraphone with Dave Gerhart at Cal State University Long Beach. Over the years G.Rich has committed long hours of studio time devoted to developing a unique graphic style, and several years ago began to experiment with electronic composition. The early artwork and recent compositions have merged in several videos available for viewing on Youtube (search “the25room” or follow the link available here).

Jukebox #28 Anawaty+Russell

Cass Anawaty has been involved with music for over 20 years. As a guitarist he has studied with fingerstyle legend Alex DeGrassi, Flamenco purist Mark Taylor, and renowned Jass performer/instructor Don Latarski. His years of work as a musician and composer led him to found Sunbreak Music LLC in 2002 as a platform for media composition and production.

British born Paul has loved music since earlier than he can remember. He was brought up on a strict diet of Edie Cochran, the Beatles and the Tamla Motown sounds of the sixties. He soon settled on the bass guitar as his instrument of choice and, although he can scratch out a rudimentary tune or two on the six string and the piano, he still maintains his love for the engine room of the band, the link between the rhythm that drives and the melody that charms.

The album ‘Monjour’ is the first of a planned series by Cass and Paul. Imagine: one lives on the West Coast of the USA, the other in Singapore. Lots of guests appear in their production as you can read on the dedicated site of the album. ‘Monjour’ is the result of working remotely in their studios and 8000 miles apart…. The Jukebox plays ‘Sunset over Manda Valley’ (Jehanna Phares Hakime, recitation).

Words from the booklet: Monjour does not compete in the loudness wars. It has been mastered to preserve the dynamics and excitement of the original mixes. Therefore, for maximum aural pleasure, we advise you to turn it up REALLY FREAKIN’ LOUD.

Izmar Verhage is a producer of all kinds of electronic music, usually with a cinematic, soulful influence. Lately he’s been focussing on global sounds of triphop, chillout, ethnic and breakbeats. Izmar started playing keys at age 12, teaching himself various chord arrangements - Around the same time he started writing his own music, having written over 150 songs to date.

The Jukebox plays a track from his Aze2 album; some of you might recognize the track from the Senseo® Sundays series, hehehe! After releasing the track in 2003 it’s still a great one, timeless, even speechless. Visit the Izmar website for more great tracks and information.

Jukebox #26 Northcore

A music band involving Carl Gibbons (producer, composer, performer); Jana Tillotson (composer, performer, lyricist). With contributions and collaborations from a bunch of other talented musicians. For a long time Northcore was just Carl, and most of the stuff he wrote was techno, trance and chillout. Now it’s a broader mix of styles but it can generally be classified under “electronic”, “chill”, and “alternative”.

On the production side, Northcore music has been featured on websites, documentaries, short films, computer games, fashion shows, and sport videos. The collaborations and remixes which have been most stimulating. Working up full-length albums for the U.S. ambient label Spotted Peccary, and Northcore has also been getting cosy in the London psy-trance scene. Tracks have been released on UK psy-compilation albums, and they have played psy chill gigs at big and small venues, including the Glade Festival, Waveform Festival and Camden’s inSpiral Lounge.

Today’s track from the Jukebox: Oxygen. Carl about this track: “We took this vocal line & lyrics, which a good friend wrote, to a new place when we recorded and created hospital sounds and composed a new piano part to complement the melody. We recorded that part on the Petrov grand piano at the Czech Embassy in London. In our final mix, Oxygen has become the song of the life-support machine to the patient.”

Jukebox #25 Redlounge Orchestra

Redlounge Orchestra is a project by producer Carsten Roggenbuck from the Hamburg area in Germany. The music can be found on many different chillout/ambient style albums, samplers and compilations. RLO is not only about chillout music…Carsten does also soundtrack music, music for commercials and events, LIVE performances including visuals guarantee a trip around the world with the best music you can think of. RLO LIVE comes as a duo with Christophe Drave on guitar, electronic violin and keyboards. Carsten plays keyboards and the electronic cello. The track coming out of the Jukebox is called ‘Sonic Circle’ ; it immediately draw our attention because of the fantastic sound quality and great synth sequences, the groovy loops and wonderful orchestrations. Jukebox #24 Sternenspringer

Sternenspringer is: Gerd Neusser and Juergen Rieger, both living in small town near Frankfurt - Germany. They’re part of the Netaudio scene since 2000. Gerd´s obsession is composing beats and freaky soundscapes. Juergen, who studied graphic-design in the early 90’s, is working now as a freelance designer and is the head behind the visual concept of the projects both are joining; he is enthusiastic about creating smooth soundscapes, rhythmic beats and clicky noises.

The result of putting together their different personalities is a wide range of sounds between minimal electronic, experimental ambient and moving melodies. Watching the world in every situation, catching every single moment. Sternenspringer: “everyone and everything has it’s own story and that is what we try to express in our sound concepts”. The Jukebox plays ‘The Air, The Light and The City’ from the ‘Areas and Movements’ LP released in 2006. The album is (still) available for free at the Sternenspringer website.

Jukebox #23 Gulan

Gulan was born in Latvia in 1974. In fact, Gulan is a pseudonym. He was interested in music and showed his musical talents during the childhood itself. His first dabbling with instrumental music was through piano in a music college. Later he learnt keyboard and synthesizer through private lessons. After that he got plenty of opportunities to show his raw talent through electronic synthesizers. This experience made him a master of electronically generated music and sounds.

Gulan made the full use of his experience when he launched his first album at the age of 19; later he formed a band in his own name, which became synonymous with ’space music’. He also founded a music studio called Gulan Music Studios in Latvia. His music has been broadcast from radio stations of various countries including the USA, the UK, the Netherlands (Spacemusic.nl) , Australia, and South Korea.

The Jukebox plays a track called ‘Return Home part 2′ and it’s taken from the album ‘Cassiopeia’ sent to us by Gulan himself. A wonderful electronic/new age album that is really timeless. The perfect relaxing album, the perfect soundtrack, music that should be played more often at more places. Maybe it’s time to install more Spacemusic Jukeboxes on this globe…

Jukebox #22 Paul Le Claire

Paul was born in 1963 in Jersey. Paul Vincent Le Claire is a member of the States of Jersey. Upon leaving school he served in the Royal Marines as a bugler before moving on to a career in personal protection, and becoming a fully qualified executive protection specialist.

He is a musician, having had three albums produced and distributed over the internet and regularly performing in healing masses for the Christian community in Jersey. These include the Queen of Peace which was inspired by the miraculous healing of a young boy in Medjugorje. In Summer 2000, he played support for Art Garfunkel when the singer visited Jersey for a concert at Fort Regent.

This time we can hear ‘Summer Skies’ from the Jukebox. Produced by Marc Mitchell. The track has been in our libraries for years and now it’s on air: it’s a track that really gives you this typical warm feeling brought to you by paul’s voice, the instruments and mix is remarkable and will stick in your head for days, months…

Jukebox #21 Rymdlego

We go way back, shortly after we initiated the Spacemusic podcast we stumbled upon this track ‘I realize’. Later we found out about the fact this track was performed by Mosaik from Sweden, under a different name. Translation of the Swedish ‘Rymdlego’ comes near some sort of ‘Space Lego’. So let’s play! Other performing names from the same artist: Radix, Mosaik. Who is he? It’s Jakob Svanholm and he comes from Sweden. His musical skills play an important role in the ambient/electronic music scene. Yes, Spacemusic calls this artist a legend already…

Jukebox #20 SINE

SINE is the musical project of the brothers Thomas and Jochem Hauser, who produce the successful chillout-acts ‘Skysurfer’ and ‘Emotional’ featured on many popular compilations. SINE blends electronic elements with pianos, guitars and vocals to form new Chillout/Ambient collages and which immediately enchant the listener.

Their first track ‘Always’ (taken from the compilation ‘Cosmic Chill lounge vol.1′) took various radio stations worldwide by storm and climbed to high positions in several charts.

The jukebox plays a track from the new release Chillbar vol. 2 (to be released december 11th 2009). It is called ‘Time’ , performed by SINE and certainly reflects thoughts and feelings that go with the december days; building up piece by piece, vocals, ambient sounds, guitar and a beautiful piano melody takes you to unexpected places; the wide break with a heart breaking synth lead will absolutely move you and lift you off the ground….! Jukebox #19 Deborah Martin and Erik Wollo

Deborah Martin’s passion is to visualize and create music that takes each listener on a journey through time and space. With a vivid imagination and a deep love of historic places and peoples of the past, we see her as being blessed; for they are few, those visionaries, who can bring forth into the present, and into our hearts, the spirit of that which has been so utterly lost in antiquity. Erik Wollo grew up in a small mountain village in Norway where his ancestors have lived and farmed for hundreds of years. Weaving through this exotic and timeless landscape of snowy peaks and deep valleys, you can still hear the music of those centuries flowing through a people whose culture is deep, alive and thriving.

Here we are: the Jukebox plays the title song of the album “Between Worlds” performed by these two great ambient artists. Deborah shares some insight into the essence of the work, “The American Indian believes there are two worlds - the world of spirit and the world of form. Creating a bridge between the two worlds are ritual, healing and magic. Jukebox #17 Logic Bomb

Gimme a beat! Logic Bomb was founded in the mid-nineties by Johan Krafft and Jonas Pettersson in Sweden. Their style: psychedelic trance/ambient. Their biggest hit is arguably ‘Ansi’. We noticed their music while clicking through the iTunes Store and looking for music by System 7. The illustration for the ‘Sonic Algebra’ album flew by and we tried a few…. wow! Our new Sennheiser HD280 PRO liked it too! It was a sonic experience that gave us an enormous joy and adrenalin and so we wanted to share this act with you, too.

The Jukebox plays ‘Reverser’ and it comes from their album ‘Sonic Algebra’. a Musthave for trance-and-dance lovers out there and audiophiles like we are…! The Jukebox plays ‘Dispehrse’ from the Scateren album; the first time we heard this track we were amazed by the hi-quality production level, the intense bass line, the wonderful depth and 3D experience! If you ask us Esem should release his work via the iTunes Store for example as Scateren is a diamond in the electronica genre, much better than lots of ‘average’ ambient/electronica/IDM albums out there. MinusBlue is the alter-ego of Leigh Devlin.Vocalists connected to the project include Emma Saville, Claire Schofield, Marion Benoist of The Lovers, Sarah Jay, Tina Peacock, and Fran McNamara.Leigh lives and works in Sheffield and has recently written for and produced The Breaks, Paddy Orange, Claire Schofield, The Lovers, The Loungitude and various other projects. He is now concentrating on completing the second MinusBlue LP. Since March 2008, various remixes and the original mix of ‘Be As One’ have been signed to numerous labels and compilations around Europe. Nurion is a project by André Geada, 16 years old, from Portugal, who has been producing music since he was 12. His interest in music started in his early childhood when he studied piano, musical training and choir at the conservatory from 6 to 12 years old. Later he found out about software called ‘Fruity Loops’, his kick-off for producing Drum’n'Bass and House music. Ambient music was a later station and started to get his full attention. He was invited by Buddha Mantra Rec. and Urban Antidote Records. André released a promo EP (with Lee de Forest colaboration) on Buddha Mantra Records in 2009 to promote his project. In August of 2009 the Spacemusic podcast was truly amazed about Nurion and the production level… at the age of 16 this musician entered the podcast on the Coffee Break episode in October 2009. Nurion tries to transmit a new form of thinking: Enjoy Life! The Jukebox plays ‘Love in Dub’ which is a fantastic easy going track suitable at any time of the day, whatever you’re doing. Jukebox #10 Xerxes

Xerxes (reigned 486-465 BC), a king of Persia, made an unsuccessful effort to conquer Greece in 480-479, suffering a major naval defeat at the Battle of Salamis. Xerxes was the son of Darius I and Atossa, daughter of Cyrus I. When Xerxes succeeded his father, Egypt was already in revolt and troubles soon broke out in Babylon; further, there was still pending the matter of the Greeks, where the Persian defeat at Marathon called for vengeance. He crushed the revolts in both Egypt and Babylon with great severity, not sparing even the gods, and then turned to the conquest of Greece.

And now more about the ambient artist Xerxes…;-) It was hard to find more info, even his Myspace site doesn’t show much at the moment of writing this post, but here’s something worth knowing about: Xerxes, also known as Klaus Lunde, was born in 1973 in the southern parts of Norway. At the age of 14, he started producing music using an Amiga 500. In 1996, after having gone through various experiments and compositional phases, he finally arrived at a style he could call his own. Since then, Klaus has spent most of his time developing this sound. He is currently living in Tønsberg, Norway He is a deeply respected ambient artist and has played alot of festivals the last years, both as a dj and with his band “Xerxes Live”.’

The Jukebox plays ‘Can You See This?” from his album “The Mirror Formula”. Originally offered as a free download, released in march 2006. Re-mastered edition is now available from his website. We suggest: be gentle and pay a reasonable price for this release. One can choose not only the format to download but the price level as well. Cool feature!

PERU was a Dutch Synthesizer band, started in 1979 with Peter Kommers and Ruud van Es. They used their first names to make the name of the band. Rob Rapen also joined the band and Jos van de Dungen was involved in this project later on. Besides the name PERU they also used the name NOVA for their more commercial work. The single like ‘Aurora’ was in the charts those days! The music by Peru can be described as ‘new age’ or ‘electronic’. File it under ’synthesizer’ if you will. It can be played while sitting on the couch or as the background of a film. Peru has made music you won’t hear that often anymore nowadays which is too bad…. Welcome to Spacemusic! The Jukebox plays ‘Whales’ and it’s from their album called ‘Forlian‘ which is a 1988 release when Jos van de Dungen joined Ruud and Peter. Michele Effe a.k.a. Gold Lounge is an Italian producer and composer; his musical styles range from chillout to lounge to ambient and electronic music. It all started in his childhood… playing along with tunes on the radio on his keyboard. Michele started playing the piano at the age of six. His preferred music: funky disco, 70s and electro-new age of the 80s. During the 90s he had become a serious DJ @ various clubs in Italy.

During a holiday on Ibiza he discovered the Chillout genre and this was a serious stimulation to fire of his beloved project…. Gold Lounge was a fact! In his music you can find a lot of contamination due to the different types of music heard and loved during his musical career. His first EP called “Earth Breath EP” and his second “Liquid Sun” are currently available on the best digital stores. The Jukebox plays ‘Close Your Eyes’ - this track will be out on the future new EP by Gold Lounge around Christmas. Check the Myspace site for previews and the latest news about releases. Lukas Termena is a producer from Poland. His project is kept in a stream of smooth chillout and ambient. 2005 where the year of his first steps in chillout and he found his passion in it. The first promo album “Dream” came out a year later and was supported by “Radio Horyzont”, “Radio Bawelna”, “Spacemusic” and many more. After some time he released a new single - “Lonely Girl” - recorded with vocalist Cassi Luv and a month later next complimentary album “2000 Miles to Heaven” published by a Canadian recording studio Falling Records. The album “2000 Miles to Heaven” is a compilation of the most interesting tracks composed up to now by Lukas Termena.His music can be listened in such broadcasts like Beatiful Voices, Shanning Sleep, Chillout Sundays, Spacemusic Podcast, Leniwe Dzwieki. Nowadays Lukas is binded with a talented vocalist Angelika Borof. Jukebox #6 Shulman

The Shulman project, comprised of Yaniv Shulman and Omri Harpaz, is considered one of the leading groups in the psychedelic chill out and ambient scenes and has performed live at large festivals around the world. Shulman’s music is filled with evolving organic layers backed by rich harmonies. Shulman has released four artist albums and numerous releases on compilations by leading labels throughout the world.

Yaniv Shulman* is from Israel. He has a BS in computer science with an emphasis on DSP and math. At the moment, he is studying music theory. Yaniv has produced music for the last 11 years. He is focused mainly on downbeat electronic music of all sorts, but has also worked on electronic music such as dance-floor oriented music, trip hop projects, rock, and more.

Omri Harpaz (Omi), is a 31 year old from Israel, who studied computer programming. Omi started to DJ when he was 17 and has since played all over the world (Japan, Mexico, Kenya, Holland, Germany, Portugal, United States, Brazil and more).

Shulman has collaborated with many artists including world music giants Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Steve Shehan, Bluetech, Ishq, Lee Triffon, and many others. In addition, Shulman remixed tracks by Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Steve Shehan, Sub6 and Michele Adamson, and Entheogenic. Shulman’s tracks were remixed by famous artists such as Bluetech, Ishq, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Anahata, as well as others.

The Jukebox plays: I Dive - featuring Lee Triffon. We were tipped by our long-time listener from Germany; one thing let to another sort of speak. Spacemusic will feature more tracks by the Shulman project in the near future.

Transient is Carl Martin, american musician with netlabel discography second to none. It is not easy to categorize his output, the styles vary from beatless ambient to bottom heavy dancefloor rollers, everything in between. So in case he is a new discovery to you, head over to his website and be amazed of the versatility of music, almost all of it to be downloaded for free. “Nothing is everything when everything is nothing” being the lengthy title for this album, it’s slightly more beat-oriented Soft Phase release, while still preserving the importance of melodies and harmony. Airbase Music is a music production company run by Jezper Söderlund, mostly known as the DJ and trance music producer Airbase. Jezper was born the 27th of august 1980 as Jezper Joakim Söderlund, son of a swedish father and finnish mother. He showed no real interest in music until 1987 when he first heard the rock song R.O.C.K. by Sha-boom, a norwegian band. He has been an active DJ since 1996 and a professional music producer since 2001.

Four days into the new millenium Jezper moved from the swedish west coast city Gothenburg to the east coast city Stockholm, capital of Sweden, for a new job. With his first pay check he bought himself a brand new synth, a Yamaha CS2x. By that purchase, Jezper also decided to try and do some more serious producing to maybe one day sign something to a label…

He’s been signed to labels such as Black Hole, Platipus, Armada, Gesture Music, Fundamental, Intuition, Alphabet City, Afterglow and many more. He’s released over 20 records and made over 50 remixes and has had great success with constant support from the absolute elite of todays trance Djs. He’s had the pleasure of playing in places like America, England, Israel, Ibiza, Finland, Poland, Holland, Scotland, Rumania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland and many other places. He’s been playing great venues and parties like Trance Energy, Mysteryland, Privilege Ibiza, Passion UK and O2 Arena London among others and many more to come….

Akhunaton has arrived at “Chilled-out, mind expanding sound waves,” as said by Musical Starstreams.

The Jukebox plays a track from 2002 from the album “Uplift Drift”. It’s the final track from the album and as far as we’re concerned the best one. It’s a perfect combination of dub, electro, grooves, samples and cinematic atmosphere. Jukebox #1 - Eleon’s real name is Michael Leon Rogers. Michael Was born in Waco, Texas in 1970. He was raised in Mesquite Texas and lived there for 30 years. He came from a home of loving parents that taught him the value of hard work and endurance. Back in 1998, Michael and his friend, graphic designer James Forbs, created Michael’s Eleon name and logo from his middle name, Leon. Even though he has composed music under his real name, Eleon seems to be the name people remember and like the most. Michael has had a few toy keyboards since 1987 and one professional low end keyboard (Korg N-364) back in 1998. He said he always felt like he could compose better if he just had the right gear. Michael has since moved back to Waco, Texas and in February 2008, he was given that opportunity to compose the music of his dreams with an apple imac and some software. “I now feel that I can compose the way I want to with only a little inconvenience, as my imac has limited ram and can barely give me the quality and sound I want,” he laughs. Today Michael is still creating new music under Eleon and has composed 115 tracks since 2008. Michael believes that if you don’t create and or write from the heart, you are not being true to yourself and the world loses out on the art and storytelling that we all need to keep moving on to wonderful worlds and dreams ahead. ”I thank God and my parents for their love and support and friends who believed in me.” Michael L. Hello listeners, so happy to see you are still tuned in. Season 5 is about to get started… Proud to present new series for this new season but first of all We’d like to thank you all for supporting the show by downloading, listening, sending e-mail, posting comments and telling people around you about our podcast. This is very much appreciated! Thank you.

Audio wise the show will go on. Video wise we’re very sorry to tell you that we simply can’t afford the HD project to be on PRO levels at this particular moment in time. During the last 10 months we have not been able to find enough sponsored support so we have to take a few steps back; the 10-15 minutes 720p HD video podcasts will stay online. Continuing the 720p can’t be done without further financial injections. That’s simply the way it works. Or in this case…. how it doesn’t work.
