SEASON ONE: In the beginning…..
The Spacemusic Podcast - it all started with this topic in the ‘MACFAN’ , somewhere at the beginning of 2005 about podcasting + an interview with Adam Curry. For us the first encounter with podcasting… The fact everybody was able to start a channel with audio and video content was something we had to read twice! Really? Wowww… We searched for a way to record a show; something we used to do since the age of 9… always behind the decks sort of speak. This time more serious because there was a world wide audience waiting! The first couple of shows recorded with Cubase Audio - mixing ambient and electronic music - some very crappy English came out of the mouth but… the result was nice!
February 2005: Spacemusic was officially launched via it’s own podcast channel. Libsyn offering an easy way to publish content via the feed and a great online interface to manage all content. These guys rock! ‘Podcasting made easy’. You bet! Sonology concerts, soundseeing in the snow in Rotterdam, cooking in the kitchen, LIVE soundseeing from Cyprus, Sate Chicken Fly Away… and more.
Ambient music was still alive! We started to promote (electronic) musicians by playing and mixing their tracks like cooking Italian dinner 
Fantastic feedback. Artists were selling albums again and got the attention from the public. Some of the musicians got excited again after years of silence…they started to compose new tracks! Spacemusic was featuring James Bernard, Off the Sky, The Circular Ruins, Sonarfreq, Elipsis1 and many more. The Databloem record label inspired us to create more and more shows too.
The amount of listeners started @ 50 downloads a show, after the release of iTunes 4.9 (built-in podcast feature) this became around 4,000 per show till more than 10,000 downloads per episode. After two years we passed 1,2 million downloads and still going strong….

Spacemusic goes out for soundseeing tours; Drunense Duinen, Thunderdome, the London Trip. We meet several artists and do interviews. Spacemusic on the road with ‘I Awake’ and ‘Aware’ = an intriguing combination of ambient/soundtrack music and downtempo/chillout. Couple of drinks at the London Rembrandt before going to the sneak preview in the SeOne club where I Awake is about to perform; we meet Krister Linder there as he hands us out his album “Songs from the Silent Years”...
Season 4 starts in november 2008. Unique versions from the archives, new shows, the famous three-hour Global Feed show (!) on New Year’s Eve featuring interviews with Off the Sky, I Awake, David Helpling and Jon Jenkins; the return of the Senseo®Sundays, LIVE soundseeing from London, the trip to Brussels for Mylène Farmer LIVE - a unique live concert experience we will never forget - Definately a very exciting year. Hosting wise - Libsyn helped us out to do the Big Move: we have succeeded in melting together two podcast feeds into one. In short: a very moving year to say the least!
Season 5 starts in october 2009. Our brand new Jukebox series takes our listeners on a tour… 50 shows featuring single tracks by very talented (electronica/lounge/soundtrack) musicians. We mention a couple here: Eleon, Peru, Goldlounge, Schiller, Jon jenkins and David Helpling, Thomas Lemmer, Planet Boelex, Higher Intelligence Agency and many, many more! Coffee Breaks in between to inform you about the weather and other issues. Right after Christman we published a 2-hour show called ‘Golden!!!’ bringing the best Spacemusic tracks and this unique Lukas Termena non-stop mix. Once again, this season is your guide into relaxation and no-worries. Nearly 20 hours of entertainment: fantastic lounge and electronica music right here at Spacemusic.nl….
