When one thinks about it: 65 years of freedom in this country … on May 4th we remember all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kindom of The Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the outbreak of World War II. May 5th is Liberation day in Holland, celebrating the ending of the German occupation. Spacemusic.nl offers you this personal mix, compiled and mixed by *TC*, a blend of excellent ambient/soundtrack music that triggers you to remember and feel connected with all people who do. Feel free to post comments!

Bad Loop is Petteri Karjaleinen, born July4th 1979 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Yes, a lot of Americans do celebrate his birthday! Moved to Finland and studied in the Music Institute of Vantaa in 1991. He started experimenting with midi and tracker software with Jari Saukkonen, with whom he produced music until his departure to South Africa in 1995. His debut ep “Lumme” was released in 2002 on UK based net label Kahvi Collective and later in 2005, having moved back to Helsinki, Finland, he released “Luo” ep on US netlabel One, and soon it gained popularity in several online magazines including Beat magazine and even Der Spiegel. Bad Loop teamed up with a fellow musician Recue in 2005, for series of live performances in Finland, Estonia and UK until 2008, and nowadays he is performing with Jari, associated with Coral Visuals, who is responsible for the custom real-time visuals. 2010 brings the EP release of ‘Fragments’ and our Jukebox plays ‘Sometimesrmx’ which we think is all about a remix version as the title shows us…

Mosaik is an artist from Stockholm, Sweden. His music could be described as ambient electronica with a genuine melodic touch. In fact, it’s the melodies and harmonies that present the personal Mosaik trademark. The Jukebox plays “Nanomies” which he did together with Planet Boelex. The track comes from his latest release ‘Leandi’ via the Softphase Netlabel.
“So, here it is. Leandi is my spring and summer of 2009. More specifically it’s my most sincere release in a very long time. It’s the result of looking at the creation process in a different light, without engaging in reasoning and just letting the music come as it may. Normally I would venture into more ambient landscapes and experimental sounds, but I wanted this release to be simple and open. Heavily inspired by childhood, fatherhood, watching my son grow up, play, communicate and learn the ways of the world.” - MOSAIK

Excuse me…. it’s May31st and sometimes we simply malfunction on what day it is…. Let’s have a cup now: Remastered edition of the Planet Boelex album “Little World” is available! We got the message some time ago and just had to put on a show featuring this fantaaastic re-release. The difference between this one and the older version? One could say it’s a difference between day and night but let us put it into the right perspective here: The vocals by Lisa’s Antenna are sounding much warmer and more subtle than before. The overall mix is a much better balance between high and low frequencies, the compression from before especially in the high range has gone… “Are You There” is now like she’s sitting next to you, “Fall” has turned into a warm blanket. Once you start playing the tracks you only want to pump up the volume and really dive into this Little World and stay. Mastering act by Christopher Leary. Spacemusic gives him best compliments!

Studies indicate coffee reduces the risk for diabetes and Parkinson’s…
Some studies have shown that coffee may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. After analyzing data on 120,000 people over an 18-year period, researchers at Harvard have concluded that drinking 1 to 3 cups of caffeinated coffee each day can reduce diabetes risk by several percentage points, compared with not drinking coffee at all. Even more significant, is the fact that in this study, having 6 cups or more per day slashed men’s risk by 54% and women’s risk by 30% over those who avoided coffee. This study is the latest of hundreds of studies which suggest that coffee may be something of a health food - especially in higher amounts.
At least 6 studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis have up to 80% lower risks of developing Parkinson’s disease, with 3 of those studies indicating that the more coffee they drink, the lower the risk. Other studies indicate that, compared to not drinking coffee, drinking at least 2 cups per day can lead to a 25% lower risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in the risk of liver cirrhosis, and nearly 50% the risk of gallstones.
Cheers!

Logic System - links and info -
Logic System is a musical project of Hideki Matsutake. Hideki started as an assistant for Isao Tomita n the 70’s and is well-known as the sequencer programmer and modular synthesizer operator for the Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), but he wasn’t a member of YMO. He worked on several of their albums and toured with his huge collection of synths. He also did sequencing work for numerous technopop albums for other artists, particularily in the early 80’s. In 1996 he performed in a big concert event organized by Isao Tomita and was also guest on Towa Tei albums. On his website is a huge number of MIDI files he released, with some of YMO’s original songs.
