This sunday morning the City of Rotterdam was grey and misty… for a moment we thought we’re gonna see Autumn Leaves here! Such moments we dive into the archives of our music collection. Today we found: Forma Tadre. It has been on our minds to play on the podcast for years now. We had to play and record the music from a mini-disc to Logic first and now it’s here on the Senseo Sunday podcast. This album “Automate” can be filed under Experimental Ambient, Industrial Ambient. Brings back memories - “music that I first heard on a local radio station in 1995 in The Hague, TC” - It’s not exactly dinner music, it brings us dreamy and hypnotic loops and sounds, play @ high volume! Sunshine is getting through again, humidity at a very high level so we’ve got ourselves a sticky situation now.

Sticky situation: 26C and humidity at very high levels.

On the other hand, it is clear that coffee is not for everyone. In excessive amounts - meaning more than whatever an individual’s body can tolerate - coffee can cause nervousness, jitters, and rapid heartbeat.
Although studies investigating any relationship between higher cholesterol levels and coffee have yielded conflicting results, it is believed that in some people, drinking excessive amounts of coffee might cause elevated cholesterol levels (5).
However, coffee drinkers who consume filtered coffee should not worry themselves with respect to cholesterol levels, because research indicates that it is the coffee oils which are mainly responsible for the rise in cholesterol in people who drink nonfiltered or boiled coffee.
Most recent large studies show no significant adverse affects on most healthy people, although pregnant women, heart patients, and those at risk for osteoporosis may still be advised to limit or avoid coffee.

Studies indicate coffee reduces the risk for diabetes and Parkinson’s…
Some studies have shown that coffee may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. After analyzing data on 120,000 people over an 18-year period, researchers at Harvard have concluded that drinking 1 to 3 cups of caffeinated coffee each day can reduce diabetes risk by several percentage points, compared with not drinking coffee at all. Even more significant, is the fact that in this study, having 6 cups or more per day slashed men’s risk by 54% and women’s risk by 30% over those who avoided coffee. This study is the latest of hundreds of studies which suggest that coffee may be something of a health food - especially in higher amounts.
At least 6 studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis have up to 80% lower risks of developing Parkinson’s disease, with 3 of those studies indicating that the more coffee they drink, the lower the risk. Other studies indicate that, compared to not drinking coffee, drinking at least 2 cups per day can lead to a 25% lower risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in the risk of liver cirrhosis, and nearly 50% the risk of gallstones.
Cheers!

Abyssinian Mocca is an Ethiopian coffee type exclusive to Moplaco. The coffee is grown in the Eastern highlands if Ethiopia where Mocca coffee originated. It grows at altitudes as high as 2,200 metres and the local farmers use only traditional methods of cultivation. It is carefully cleaned and prepared at Moplaco’s Addis Ababa facility using modern techniques and equipment. The coffee is of uniform appearance and the cup quality is characterized by the consistency of its special Mocca flavor; the unique winey, gamey tastes which can only be found in coffee from this area.

The Senseo Sundays are back online! Your 15 minutes coffee break accompanied with good music.
Coffea Arabica originated in Ethiopia where apparently a shepherd noticed that his goats became more frisky and animated after chewing on the berries of the plant. Kaffa, the region where this amazing plant was discovered, has cultivated the plants and beans since the thirteenth century. It wasn’t until the sixteenth century however that the locals began roasting the pits of the coffee cherries before using them in their hot brewed beverages. These beans or pits were dried, roasted and ground to create the first coffee beverage.
Arabia maintained a hold on coffee production for several centuries, however the Dutch managed to smuggle a few plants out of Arabia and a long a colourful history of espionage, smuggling and redistribution ensued. Now coffea arabica grows around the planet in a narrow belt around the equator and is one of the second highest commodities traded after oil.
Light roast
Some coffees, like our Costa Rica, have such a delicate fragrance that roasting them beyond a light- medium roast would ruin them.
Medium roast
Incredibly complex, full flavour, optimal body, balanced acidity. This is where we get the most and the best out of our beans.
Dark roast
Our Dark French roast is roasted slowly to caramelize the sugars in the beans. This results in a sweeter finish than most fast roasted dark beans available elsewhere. The intensity of the French roast lies in its bittersweet peculiar taste.
So, have a break…..
