Yes, we break the new record by Helpling and Jenkins: The Crossing is on! This 11 track album is one of the best we’ve heard so far in 2010 in this genre…. excellent ambient/soundtrack files by two musicians who know what they’re doing: grabbing us and showing us around in their world. Official release: september 14th 2010. On this podcast two tracks from the album; seamlessly mixed so you won’t hear a ’skip’ or ‘edit point’ - it’s done LIVE. This file is compresssed to 320Kbps MP3 format. You should play it loud! Have a listen and please post your comment/feedback right here at our site. It’s an honour to air the new release this way… the modern way to open doors to new music. Thanks for listening and enjoy the show!

WORLD PREMIERE :: Helpling/Jenkins :: The Crossing
Sunday morning after a good nite of sleep and a working week…had real Calzone for breakfast and hot tea. Reading the latest e-mail makes me realize I’m back @ the daily routines. There’s not much demo content coming in lately so we guess musicians are celebrating their holidays. Lucky for us Jennifer has sent us an e-mail with a link to Shamantis. And guess what? Bingo! Good music for our podcast. See details below.
Shamantis (Nick Pittsinger, 20) was born and raised on music and is an avid musician, composer/songwriter, and producer. He has had intensive jazz music theory training, and continues to push the envelope of sound by incorprating genres from traditional hindustani music to new and experimental forms of goa and down-tempo.

First of all let us thank our Executive Producers for this show, Patrick, Simon and Marcus, thanks to you this podcast/feed can be. Of course a big thanks to our listeners that also made their donations during the past few weeks, sometimes a dollar, sometimes 5 or 10 dollars, we appreciate your gifts and hope more people will follow you! It’s now august 2010 and we’ve come back from a fantastic UK trip. We have visited Eastbourne, Portsmouth, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Weymouth and Portland…. Long walks on the Isle of Wight have inspired us for this specific podcast: The Needles is the outer West Wight: it is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight, England, close to Alum Bay. The Needles lighthouse stands at the end of the formation. Built in 1859, it has been automated since 1994. The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot’s Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck. So will this music…
Back in the studio after a real cool holiday destination in the UK. After spending a week exploring the south coast of England we are ready for new podcasts like this one. You can see PHOTOS in a slideshow at our Picasa web album. This Coffee Break for august13th brings you wonderful music and talk over coffee. We have the exclusive opportunity to play music from the new Cool Off Chillout Volume 3, to be released august 27th 2010. See shownotes at the spacemusic.nl website for links and info. Inspired by the white cliffs we have seen…. a new Flying Dutchman episode will follow after this one. Stay tuned.

(60MB VIDEO) The biggest cruise ship that was here in Rotterdam, the second biggest in the world…. Norwegian Epic carries over 4,000 people, the overall length is 329.5m and you can choose from 19 decks…. This is a video capture of the departure from Rotterdam, NL. The music we chose is performed by CRASH from New Zealand. You can find the track “The Amazing” on his Music for Film 1-4 series. Also: if you’d like to see the HD edit of this video please subscribe to our HD video podcast on iTunes here or copy/paste the video podcast RSS feed to any other podcast receiver.
Normally we post videos via the Spacemusic HD channel only… but we have a feeling not everybody knows where to find it. That’s a work in progress! Especially because Season 6 will include more video. Please follow the links below to get more details and fun. Thanks for your support.
New studio setup now includes Logic Studio 2 and it works great! Took a little while to upgrade and update but oh yes…. we like it a lot here in the 64-bit mode environment. If you are a Logic 8 user, it is very much worth it to move on. Allright, hear hear, good music for you: first of all we found this track by Mosaik called Imogen Heap which is a nice kick off for this Coffee Break. From France comes the one and only Alexel and we’re proud to have him on the show playing two tracks from his soundtrack ‘No Gravity’, the PSP game out there. We already knew that New Zealand is a beautiful country and it certainly brings us excellent cinematic music performed by Crash. Mike Beaver has released one of the best series we’ve ever heard: Music for Films volume 1-4 are available. Everybody should get a copy and play at their homes… no more stress! The same goes for a very pleasant meeting we had with D.P. Kaufman. His brand new album ‘As The Ruins Falls’ has a place on our iPod now and will stay there…The music can be described as dreamy and trippy, various styles combined on one album; soundtrack meets IDM, Electronica meets Ambient. File it under ‘Refreshing’ and ‘Reload Yourself’… we love it! Off the Sky offers you the deep part for this show. Finalized by Anton Kapela and Arthur Durkee playing loops and guitars that simply sound very ambient. Enjoy this show!

Coffee Break recipe: as so many people ask me about the show and what I use for the production, here’s how to make a show in less than 1000 words…. Collecting and compiling the best music from all over the world, glue them together or bundle them like they really fit together, editing EQ and start-end points where necessary, collecting necessary information for being able to publish where to buy the records and find out more about the artist. Then: record the show and don’t forget to get a big cup of coffee…
After recording comes the mastering, bouncing and compression to mp3 format at 192Kbps stereo for best listening experiences and acceptable audio file size. All things on a Mac: the production of the show in Logic Studio. We also use this for bigger projects and it’s the best we know. Microphone: AKG Perception 200. Alesis Audio Interface io2. Meanwhile: create shownotes for the show, that is the storyboard with time codes for all tracks. Include links to iTunes Store or the artist website, whatever is most handy for a track in particular. Shownotes need to be saved as a text file, copy/pasted this into the actual post on the Spacemusic website later but also paste to this new pdf file for the Spacemusic App on the iPhone/iPod Touch. iTunes: add the compressed mp3 file and tag the file with all data, title, album, genre, lyrics, illustration. Front-end listening to the entire show before uploading to the server, if there’s something wrong one needs to re-open the project and filter out the error, compress it to mp3 again. Upload the mp3 file to the server.
Creating the RSS post on the Spacemusic server, add tags and SEO info. Adding the ‘podcast’ play arrow. Adding the photo/logo for the episode. Adding the media file: the actual show mp3 that was uploaded to the Libsyn server. We also create an extra post on this server for the parallel iPhone App feed with the same enclosure: the show mp3. Tags and bonus content for the iPhone App: the PDF file that has been created earlier plus some fine artwork in .jpg format. Open up Photoshop for making the 100% version and the 33% transparent version cause one needs to be able to read the shownotes with the artwork in the background. Credits to Shinsou for designing the Spacemusic App Artwork. Are we there yet? Let me see: checking all links from the shownotes to see if they work well. If yes: hit publish on both servers. Testing both the RSS feeds. Downloading the files and play the files. I think that’s basically it…. per show it takes app. 8 hours to do the job, depending on the availability and quality of the music of course, sometimes longer, never shorter Enjoy your coffee!
This time the plane will take you to a Lounge Resort we have selected for you… excellent chillout music while taking care of yourself. Don’t work too hard, don’t sleep too long. Getting the balance right is the motto for today’s show. In Rotterdam we’ve entered June…. Summertime’s coming soon, temperatures are rising, dreams are getting bigger and better. How long before going to the Lounge Resort? Tune in anytime you want. (- Can’t find out why this font is different from other posts, but it’s readable is it?)
When one thinks about it: 65 years of freedom in this country … on May 4th we remember all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kindom of The Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the outbreak of World War II. May 5th is Liberation day in Holland, celebrating the ending of the German occupation. Spacemusic.nl offers you this personal mix, compiled and mixed by *TC*, a blend of excellent ambient/soundtrack music that triggers you to remember and feel connected with all people who do. Feel free to post comments!
Inspired by the sounds from the new Bruno Sanfilippo / Mathias Grassow album called ‘CROMO’. It’s a beauty: 6 piano & drones pieces all in the range of at least 7 minutes each with a final track of 19 minutes… This podcast is LIVE recorded from the kitchen, this time a vega meal that consists of Poco Loco tortillas, vega meat, unions, spinach, Casa Fiesta spices and hot vegetables sauce.
What podcasting is all about, go with the flow, press record and publish! First of a series that will show up on the Spacemusic feed… every now and then. This time baking potatoes, meat, preparing salad, vegetables, testing the new audio recording equipment, some news. Is this really a Spacemusic episode? Yes it is. Though we’re not playing full tracks, this feed is also about the beauty of sound in general and a gateway to the audiophile world out there. To be continued…
Shownotes and background information for our podcast. Here you can find all details.
