Spacemusic has published 40 shows in Season 6: Flying Dutchman mixes, Coffee Breaks, Non-Stop Spacemusic sets, the special Oliebollen Show in three parts during New Year’s Eve, Import from Frisky Radio (Shamanah set), Fresh Air! Lounge series. New items have been the TAKE 5 episodes and the Happy Hour shows; we’re pretty sure there will be more Happy Hours during next season.
It has been a pleasure producing the podcasts for you. It has taken many hours of listening, compiling, mixing, creating, recording, finalizing, publishing and promoting. Well, the promotion of the podcast is simply something that slips through the fingers all the time as there’s not enough time to handle that part. For those of you following us via Twitter, still the best way to stay informed, and via this site of course.
Season 6 is now releasing the final show. It’s a cool one with exciting new tracks, known tracks, some chats in between and serious non-stop moments. Plug in your ear buds…. First of all let us thank our Executive Producers for this show, Patrick, Simon and Marcus, thanks to you this podcast/feed can be. Of course a big thanks to our listeners that also made their donations during the past few weeks, sometimes a dollar, sometimes 5 or 10 dollars, we appreciate your gifts and hope more people will follow you! It’s now august 2010 and we’ve come back from a fantastic UK trip. We have visited Eastbourne, Portsmouth, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Weymouth and Portland…. Long walks on the Isle of Wight have inspired us for this specific podcast: The Needles is the outer West Wight: it is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight, England, close to Alum Bay. The Needles lighthouse stands at the end of the formation. Built in 1859, it has been automated since 1994. The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot’s Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck. So will this music…

Xerxes (reigned 486-465 BC), a king of Persia, made an unsuccessful effort to conquer Greece in 480-479, suffering a major naval defeat at the Battle of Salamis. Xerxes was the son of Darius I and Atossa, daughter of Cyrus I. When Xerxes succeeded his father, Egypt was already in revolt and troubles soon broke out in Babylon; further, there was still pending the matter of the Greeks, where the Persian defeat at Marathon called for vengeance. He crushed the revolts in both Egypt and Babylon with great severity, not sparing even the gods, and then turned to the conquest of Greece.
And now more about the ambient artist Xerxes…;-) It was hard to find more info, even his Myspace site doesn’t show much at the moment of writing this post, but here’s something worth knowing about: Xerxes, also known as Klaus Lunde, was born in 1973 in the southern parts of Norway. At the age of 14, he started producing music using an Amiga 500. In 1996, after having gone through various experiments and compositional phases, he finally arrived at a style he could call his own. Since then, Klaus has spent most of his time developing this sound. He is currently living in Tønsberg, Norway He is a deeply respected ambient artist and has played alot of festivals the last years, both as a dj and with his band “Xerxes Live”.’

Oh Yes! Here we are…. @LIVE and kicking! Welcome to Spacemusic Season 5 from the studio in Rotterdam, NL. It has been at least 4 weeks since we last spoke to eachother…. Brussels was our last stop remember? Now we are back in the studio preparing many things for you. Soon there will be an iPhone App; a collaboration between us and our hosting company. Many thanks to Rob and Sarah @ Libsyn! Via this podcast we will keep you informed about it.
